Managing Anxiety in Children and Adolescents

This workshop is suitable for parents with children of all ages.

Anxiety seems to be the one of the most common challenges faced by adults today; but did you know that children also experience anxiety? What can we do to attend to anxious children before they get sucked into “the worry trap” and become anxious adolescents and adults? The workshop provides a space for parents to gain evidence-based knowledge, receive awareness and support, and bring forward their own questions. This workshop is suitable for parents with children of all ages

In this workshop, you will:
-Increase your understanding of how anxiety works, and how to break free from “The Worry Trap”
-Learn healthy coping mechanisms for your child to cope with his/her anxiety in home and at school
-Gain insight about the positive role you can play in teaching your child problem solving, tolerating discomfort, and emotional management.

At the same time, Malak Kamel, M.A., will lead a discussion about:
-Raising confident, empowered, and autonomous children
-The impact of attachment styles and role-modeling on managing anxiety
-How to tackle socio-cultural influences on children including peer pressure and cyber-bullying

Throughout the workshop you will hear multiple examples and perspectives from others; we ask that you provide others with openness, confidentiality, and respect, allowing for a collaborative and supportive discussion to speak freely about what matters most to you.
